Propaganda Map

Propaganda is the spreading of particular ideas, opinions, information, etc. according to an organized plan. Maps are used as forms of propaganda, particularly during times of war, to show how a country perceives another, and to possibly persuade others one way or the other. This particular map is showing Islamic and Muslim attacks, wars, and problems in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Thematic Map

Thematic maps are used to display concepts such as density, distribution, and spatial relationships. These distributions may be climate or human characteristics such as population density and health issues. This map shows the distribution of religious and ethnic groups in Iraq.

Topographic Map

A topographic map is a map showing relief. They also show features such as rivers and lakes, and other bodies of water, and man made features such as roads, bridges, and buildings. They are a two-dimensional representation of a three-dimensional object. Topographic maps are different from other maps in that they show both the horizontal and vertical positions of the terrain. This is a topographic map of the state of Vermont.

Planimetric Map
